why we changed our name

25 years in the making

In the ever-evolving world of design, Foyer Graphics, has remained an innovative and trusted design studio and 2024, marks its 25th anniversary in business as a social enterprise in the Northeast of Scotland. This milestone is not just a celebration of time but a testament to the work and our clients’ engagement. The new name - Foyer Design, reflects the expanded services the studio now offers. Creative director Julie Wemyss says,

“The updated name and brand reflect how far the social enterprise has come since it started in 1999;

“We’ve grown in the last 25 years, much like Aberdeen Foyer, we’ve expanded our services to provide more for our clients. We offer a client focused, agile design service and we wanted our new name and brand to reflect that.”

What truly sets Foyer Design apart is its unwavering commitment to social impact and Aberdeen Foyer. From the outset, the company has aimed to balance support & profits for their parent charity along with establishing strong relationships with clients in all sectors and businesses.

Foyer Design’s story began with one designer and a vision to lead the way in social enterprise graphic design in 1999. In 2002, after three years in business, work was expanding quickly into all sectors. Julie Wemyss then joined the company as a graphic designer, starting her journey towards becoming the creative director.

The studio has continued to embrace emerging technologies through the years, from the early days of desktop publishing, through to today’s current animation, video and sound services. This adaptability means Foyer Design will continue to provide creative solutions for our clients transforming ideas into impact.
